Research Associate (RA) – Qualification

Post: Research Associate
Discipline: Chemistry
Vacancy: 1

Essential Qualification: Ph.D. or equivalent degree in the relevant discipline from a recognized university.

Candidates who have submitted their Ph.D. thesis may also attend the walk-in interview. However, the Research Associateship will be awarded only after the Ph.D. degree or provisional certificate has been awarded.

Junior Research Fellow (JRF) – Qualification

For Chemistry / Material Science / Polymer Science, candidates must have a postgraduate degree in the relevant basic-science discipline in First Division with NET qualification.

For Chemical Engineering or Technology / Material Science & Engineering / Polymer Science or Engineering or Technology, candidates must have either:

B.E./B.Tech: Graduate degree in the relevant professional course in First Division with NET/GATE

OR

M.E./M.Tech: Postgraduate degree in the relevant professional course in First Division at both graduate and postgraduate levels.

Age Limit

Research Associate (RA): Maximum 35 years

Junior Research Fellow (JRF): Maximum 28 years

Age will be calculated as on the date of the interview.

SC/ST: 5 years relaxation
OBC: 3 years relaxation

OBC candidates belonging to the creamy layer are not eligible for OBC age relaxation.

Fellowship / Stipend

Research Associate: ₹67,000 per month

Junior Research Fellow: ₹37,000 per month for the 1st and 2nd year.

Eligible candidates will also receive HRA as per Government rules.

Contingency Grant

Junior Research Fellow: Up to ₹15,000 per annum

Research Associate: Up to ₹20,000 per annum

The grant is payable on a reimbursement basis. The JRF contingency grant may be increased to ₹20,000 for subsequent years where applicable.

Fellowship Duration

The notification states that the walk-in selection is being conducted to award Research Associateship and Junior Research Fellowships for a period of 2 years.

Documents Required

Candidates must carry the filled application/bio-data with a recent passport-size photograph and photocopies of supporting documents. Originals must also be brought for verification, including educational mark sheets and certificates, testimonials, category/community certificate if applicable, GATE/NET score card, and valid ID proof such as Aadhaar Card, Voter ID, PAN Card or Driving Licence.

Candidates working in Government departments, Public Sector Undertakings or Autonomous Bodies should apply through the proper channel.

RA and JRF awardees are not entitled to benefits such as DA, CCA, bonus or retirement benefits. Medical facilities for self are available through the campus MI Room.

Award of the Research Associateship or Junior Research Fellowship does not provide any right to future employment in DRDO.
