Educational Qualification

Candidates must possess a Graduation degree in any discipline from a university recognized by the Government of India or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Central Government.

Candidates must already possess a valid degree/marksheet on the date of online registration.

Age Limit

Age calculated as on: 1 August 2026

Minimum Age: 20 years
Maximum Age: 30 years

Candidates must have been born between 2 August 1996 and 1 August 2006, both dates inclusive.

Age Relaxation

Additional conditions for cumulative relaxation apply as specified in the official notification.

Local Language Requirement

Candidates must be proficient in reading, writing and speaking the local language of the State they apply for.

Tamil Nadu – Tamil
Karnataka – Kannada
Maharashtra – Marathi
Gujarat – Gujarati

Candidates who studied the required language in Class 10 or Class 12 do not need to take the Local Language Proficiency Test.

Other shortlisted candidates must pass the LPT before the Personal Interview.

Salary

Scale: JMGS-I / Scale-I

Basic Pay: ₹48,480 – ₹85,920

Pay scale:

₹48,480 – 2,000/7 – ₹62,480 – 2,340/2 – ₹67,160 – 2,680/7 – ₹85,920

Selected officers are additionally eligible for applicable DA, HRA, CCA and other allowances/perquisites under IOB rules.

Advance Increment

Eligible candidates with prior completed service as an Officer in a Scheduled Commercial Bank may receive one advance increment for each completed year, subject to a maximum of 2 increments, provided their previous job profile substantially matches IOB's Scale-I Generalist Officer profile.

Candidates working with subsidiaries of Scheduled Commercial Banks can receive a maximum of one increment, subject to the notification conditions.

Selection Process

The selection process is:

Online Examination → Local Language Proficiency Test (where applicable) → Personal Interview

Candidates who studied the prescribed local language in Class 10 or 12 are exempt from the LPT.

Online Examination Pattern

There are no sectional qualifying marks. The minimum qualifying aggregate is 35% for unreserved candidates and 30% for reserved candidates.

Negative Marking

Wrong Answer: 1/4th (0.25) of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted.

Unanswered: No penalty.

Posting Location

Candidates can apply for only one State.

Selected candidates will be posted within their chosen State for the first 12 years of service or until promotion to SMGS-IV, whichever occurs earlier.

Available posting States: Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Gujarat.

Probation Period

Probation: 2 years of active service from the date of joining IOB.

Service Bond

Selected candidates must execute a Financial Service Indemnity Bond of:

Bond Amount: ₹2,00,000

Minimum Service: 3 years
