1. Nirmal Purja (Nimsdai), Renowned Mountaineer, Passed Away – July 30, 2026

Nirmal Purja, popularly known as Nimsdai, was a Nepalese mountaineer and former British Gurkha soldier who was known worldwide for his extraordinary achievements in high-altitude mountaineering. He passed away during a mountaineering expedition. He gained global recognition for his record-breaking climbing achievements and contribution to the field of adventure sports.

In 2019, Nirmal Purja completed his famous Project Possible by climbing all 14 mountains above 8,000 metres in just 189 days, creating a world record. He also achieved several other milestones in Himalayan mountaineering, including challenging winter climbs and high-altitude rescue efforts. His journey was featured in the documentary “14 Peaks: Nothing Is Impossible.”
