The Babshai Bangali Foundation organized the UTTORON 2026 Annual Business Conclave at AltAir Hotel in Salt Lake, Kolkata, on 7 August 2026. More than 250 delegates from India and abroad attended the event, including policymakers, entrepreneurs, corporate executives, technology professionals and industry experts.
The conclave examined West Bengal’s changing commercial landscape and the role of entrepreneurship, innovation, technology and skill development in advancing sustainable economic growth. A major objective was to connect Bengali entrepreneurs and professionals across different regions and strengthen their collective contribution to Bengal’s economic development.

The second BRICS Friendship Cities Conclave 2026 was held at the Four Seasons Hotel in Mumbai on 11 and 12 August 2026. Mumbai First organized the conclave with the support of the Government of India and the Government of Maharashtra. Representatives of 15 cities from BRICS members and partner countries participated, including delegates connected with Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Iran and Indonesia.
The conclave promoted direct cooperation among cities and encouraged them to exchange practical solutions to common urban challenges. Its discussions were organized around four broad areas: climate and environmental resilience; future-ready urban planning, mobility and infrastructure; inclusive and people-centred urban development; and urban governance, finance and digital transformation.
Special sessions examined how coastal cities can respond to sea-level rise, erosion and flooding through climate-responsive planning, green infrastructure and sustainable cooling. The “Housing for All” discussion addressed affordable housing, improvement of informal settlements and community-led urban regeneration. Experts also considered the use of artificial intelligence and digital systems to improve public-service delivery and urban decision-making.
The event took place during India’s BRICS presidency under the 2026 theme “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability.”

The FutureDefence 2026 Conclave was organized at the Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel in New Delhi on 11 and 12 August 2026. Organized by Pulsecon Global, the international gathering brought together representatives from government, the armed forces, defence companies, technology startups, academic institutions and the investment community.
The conclave explored how emerging technologies are transforming warfare, national security and military preparedness. The sixth Annual Conference on Digitalisation of City Gas Distribution Networks was conducted at Le Méridien in New Delhi on 11 and 12 August 2026. It brought together city-gas distributors, technology providers, equipment manufacturers, consultants and representatives of government and regulatory organizations.
The conference examined how digital technologies can improve the safety, efficiency and reliability of city gas infrastructure. Discussions covered smart meters, pipeline automation, remote monitoring, Geographic Information Systems, artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, data analytics, predictive maintenance and cybersecurity.
Participants examined the use of real-time monitoring systems to identify gas leaks, pressure variations and equipment faults at an early stage. They also discussed how smart meters can improve billing accuracy and consumption management, while predictive-maintenance systems can help prevent service interruptions. Digital customer-service platforms and methods of reducing operational and distribution losses were also considered.
The conference supported India’s efforts to expand its natural-gas infrastructure and increase the role of natural gas in the national energy mix.

India and China held the 36th meeting of the Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination on India–China Border Affairs in New Delhi on 6 August 2026. The two delegations reviewed the situation along the Line of Actual Control and discussed measures for maintaining peace and stability in the border areas.
Both sides reiterated that peace and tranquillity along the LAC are essential for the stable development of India–China bilateral relations. The meeting also emphasized the importance of regular diplomatic and military communication, implementation of existing agreements and continued dialogue to prevent misunderstandings or incidents along the border.
The delegations agreed to maintain contact through diplomatic and military channels and prepare for future engagements concerning boundary-related matters.

The International Conference on Science, Technology, Sustainable Engineering and Innovation Management 2026, or ICSTSEIM 2026, was organized in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, on 7 and 8 August 2026. Organized by IRAJ International, the conference brought together researchers, academicians, technology professionals, innovators and industry representatives.
The conference explored the relationship between technological progress and sustainable development. Its discussions covered artificial intelligence, sustainable engineering, innovation management, emerging technologies and interdisciplinary research. AQUABIZ 2026 – Conference and Exhibition on Aquaculture, Fisheries and Marine Economy was held in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, from 6 to 8 August 2026. The event provided a common platform for aquaculture producers, seafood exporters, technology suppliers, researchers, policymakers and other fisheries-sector stakeholders.
The conference focused on sustainable aquaculture, modern fish-farming practices, aquatic health, feed technology, seafood processing, cold-chain development and export opportunities. It examined how innovation and responsible resource management can improve productivity while protecting aquatic ecosystems.
The accompanying exhibition showcased equipment, technologies and services related to aquaculture, fisheries and seafood processing. The Office of the Development Commissioner for Handlooms under the Ministry of Textiles organized IIHT SUTRA 2026, the inaugural National Conclave of the Indian Institutes of Handloom Technology, at the Dr. Ambedkar International Centre in New Delhi on 12 August 2026.
The conclave created a national platform for dialogue, collaboration and knowledge exchange among the Indian Institutes of Handloom Technology and stakeholders from the handloom sector.
