6. Former Emir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani Passed Away

Why in News: Former Emir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani passed away at the age of 74. He ruled Qatar from 1995 to 2013 and transformed the country into one of the world's leading energy exporters. Under his leadership, Qatar emerged as a global diplomatic, financial and media hub.
